Oak eBooks' mission includes raising the standards of ebooks to that expected in mainstream, hard-copy book publishing. As such, submissions of ebooks will be strictly filtered. Consequently, the presence of an ebook on this site is a promise of quality to your readers. EBooks on most non-fiction subjects will be considered. EBooks which incite hate or illegal activities will not be considered.

Saving money
Oak eBooks Ltd is a UK company, which serves as an intermediary in the sale between you and your reader.
- European authors save on VAT. If you're based in the EU, you don't have to charge VAT to your EU customers - unless you yourself are operating over your country's VAT threshold. This is a saving of typically 17.5% of the sale price (depending on where in the EU you live), meaning you can lower your price and still make more money per sale than you would via a US based company.
- No sales tax. Most of the world regards the place of sale as being where our servers are. Therefore, there is no sales tax when selling outside of the EU.

Simplicity for Readers
An essential part of internet marketing is keeping things simple for the reader. Your readers should only need to be familiar with the language they're reading in, not the oddities of any website or operating system.
Oak eBooks Ltd provides a quick and simple purchasing facility, involving one page for the reader to select all of the items they want to purchase from you, one page (provided by Protx) on which to pay, and one page (the link is sent to them by email) from which they download all of the items in their purchase. Every step is explained simply.
All ebooks are delivered in Adobe PDF format, which is the standard format for compatibility across different platforms (Macintosh / PC / etc.)
Your work can be purchased in US Dollars, GB Pounds and Euros, so that customers will be happy to know how much they are paying without any difficulty.

Simplicity for You
Oak eBooks Ltd handles all of the software issues for you. You can launch your ebook with no more than your own website to publicise it (this is essential, we do not get involved in marketing) and a normal bank account into which you receive payment.
You may have a number of titles that you wish to sell. On one account, you can upload and manage up to 20 ebooks, all of which can be offered through your order page on this site. Many authors also choose to sell a principle title with bonuses, or to collect several books of equal value together to be sold as a group. Oak eBooks Ltd allows you to do this easily - your account control panel allows you to create 'bundles', which are collections of ebooks sold as a group.

Prevention of Piracy
Of course, the majority of customers will behave ethically towards your work. However, more than a few authors have found their work for sale on the internet by persons other than themselves! Most ebook sales sites either pay no more than lip service to security, or they overcomplicate things and get in the way. There are a few issues you should be aware of -
- Many systems unwittingly permit ebooks to be downloaded from a site without receiving any payment. The author will seldom have any idea that copies are being taken in this way. This is a common security problem, and one which Oak eBooks Ltd stops.
- Refunded ebooks can be disabled. Oak eBooks Ltd obliges its authors to offer all products on a two week trial period, and deals with any refund requests that occur during this period. As stated, refunded ebooks can be disabled at your discretion.
- Copy limiting. The number of working copies of each individually purchased ebook can be limited, down to one, at your discretion.
- Print options. Various options are available. Should you select any of these, this will be indicated on your purchasing page on this website.
Overall, Oak eBooks Ltd provides protection for you without inconveniencing your readers.

Terms
Oak eBooks Ltd charges 10% + 0.50 GBP per bundle (group of ebooks) sold. There are also charges for processing refunds. There's an annual renewal fee (60 GBP) which is waived if you generate enough commissions (120 GBP), and a joining fee (60 GBP)
You will receive money monthly, by electronic transaction into your account. Along with the payment, you will receive a statement indicating what has been sold where and any VAT payments you must make (if applicable).

Pre-launch offer
As Oak eBooks is a new site, authors whose work is of the required quality to be on the site will have no joining fee to pay. This offer will end when a sufficient stock of books has been built up. When this occurs, the pre-launch offer will be withdrawn without notice, so please contact us as soon as possible regarding ebooks that you wish to sell via this service. Accounts that are accepted will be working immediately on acceptance of ebooks, completion of the account form and the setting of prices and other options by the author.
